This tour is not recommended for those who simply want a photo - we are situated in a rainforest where weather and wildlife sightings are NOT guaranteed. Come hike with Alpenglow Adventures Sitka! Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime! Sitka, Alaska has some of the most beautiful hiking trails in the world. We offer guided hiking tours on these trails with professional, local guides. We'll hike in the Tongass National Forest, through old growth trees surrounded by steep, towering mountains. Hikes include round trip transportation to and from location of your choice, trekking poles, water, snacks, guided hike, safety information and equipment, and sunscreen. Recommended packing list includes breathable layers, waterproof clothing, sturdy hiking shoes, and a day pack. We also offer Peaks and Pints tours, which includes a hike followed by a brewery visit and tour at Harbor Mountain Brewing Co. Our tours are all small group so we can cater to your hiking abilities and preferences. We want to create the best experience for your group! Feel free to make requests and communicate your Alaskan dreams so we can make this the best day possible for you. These hikes are classified as a moderate level of difficulty and require stable footing on rough terrain. Hiking trails are well maintained but may be muddy, rocky, and slippery.

We provide round trip transportation at the location of your choice. Start times are flexible, as we work around your arrival time in Sitka and your desired hike time! Once you book, we can arrange pickup time. Meeting location at cruise terminal: once off the ship, head up the main ramp towards the bus terminal. When you reach the set of stairs, look right for the green flags that say 'E Bikes'. We will meet you in front of those flags.

Our guide, Bob, as a long time resident and spouse of an Alaskan native, had a wealth of knowledge and experience to share about not just Sitka, but the state of Alaska and it's history in general. He seemed more concerned that we had a rewarding tour, rather that just finishing the tour "on time" and took whatever time it took to answer our questions or just let us sit and "soak it all in".
The hike was very good! Maggie was a great hiking guide, very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about Sitka and Alaska! The scenery was beautiful and the hike was well chosen for the abilities of the group. The hiking group was small (6 people) and the trail had very few other people so it was a great experience out in the wilderness of Sitka
Maggie was a terrific guide. She picked us up at our hotel and we went and did the beaver lake hike of about 3 miles. This is a moderate hike it was beautiful. Maggie was informative and educated us about the plants and animals and we ate really tasty berries! We weren’t rushed at all and had a wonderful half day! She even dropped us off at the raptor center on our way back. Do this hike if you’re in Sitka.
We had the absolute best time with Katrina on our hike to beaver lake. They took the time to find out our experience level, interests and needs and tailored the hike to us. It was terrific working with a local who knows all about the area, wildlife and must see places. She picked us up from our VRBO and even the drive to and from the park was great, with opportunities for sightseeing and restaurant recommendations. I highly recommend this guided hike, it allows you to see parts of Sitka you could not see otherwise.
Great communication from our guide, Laura. Seriously, couldn’t ask for better. She was right on time as we walked off the ship gangway. Very, very knowledgeable about all things Sitka-related and, of course, the Tongass National Forest. She took the time to figure out what type of hike we were looking for and then tailored the hike to our needs/abilities. We had an awesome time on a beautiful trail in the rainforest - yes, it rained lightly - plan on rain :-). Laura taught us about some of the edible berries along the trail (salmon and blue berries - yum). She taught us about various plants and their uses. We saw many picturesque scenes on our two-hour hike. Plenty of chances to stop and take pics. Great conversation during the hike along the creek/small river up to the timber bridge and back. We felt very safe and knew we were in good hands. After the hike, we went to the local brewery for “one on the house” and some food from the local food truck “on us”. The beer and the food were great and the little brewery was a cool scene - a nice mix of locals and tourists. Neat community there! Then we got a behind the scenes tour with Parker - very interesting (with a sample - yay!). All good people and very easy to talk to. As our time with Laura was wrapping up, she asked where we wanted to be dropped off - we requested downtown Sitka to peek into the shops and check out the little town - she showed us where the shuttles were located to get us back to the ship. We had a great time and I would highly recommend it.
This was a beautiful hike and Olga was a fantastic guide! She was knowledgeable and a joy to hike with. The guide hike took the stress out of this experience.
We really enjoyed our hike with Laura. She was very knowledgeable, gave uslots of information. Definitely recommended hike!
Colton was knowledgeable and easy to be around. The hike was spectacular!! There were some steep steps but we loved it!
