This was a fabulous tour - we don’t often do them, but we’re so pleased we did! We were able to have hands on learning fun with lovely and patient teachers. Our guide Nuri, was a really delightful person. It is always jaw dropping to witness the effort and patience in traditional skills.
Lovely experience of local villages around Borobudur, we paired it with visiting the temple. Our guide was great and all the people that he took us to were super nice. Great way to see a bit more inside lives of Indonesian people. Sadly we didn't see the tofu process as we started at 13 and the guy was already done when we got there. But the guide took us to another place where they make coconut sugar which was great as well. Also we weren't able to keep the pottery as we were leaving from Yoggyakarta tommorow and it wouldn't have dried by then, in that sense it's better for people that have accommodation around the Borobudur area and have a bit more time.
On the same interesting journey we added an excellent batik experience, two temples and the Mendut Buddhist monastery. Our guide Nuri was full of information about the history, and the crops growing en route.

We had a great time on our tour - cycling around the countryside. The views are amazing and Martin knows exactly where to take you. We had a really lovely time and got some amazing shots.
I had an amazing time exploring the villages around the Borobudur temple which I had visited in the morning. Nuri picked me up from the exit after I was done with my visit and took me to discover the area on the back of his motorbike. He drove very carefully, making it a super pleasant experience. We visited a Tofu making atelier, a pottery and Batik atelier. Nuri speaks very good English and took the time to explain everything and made me at ease to take my time to discover. It was fantastic to see the local processes. At the end we had lunch together in a local place and he helped me get a car back to Yogyakarta. This tour is the perfect combination after a visit to Borobudur - and while you discover the local area you also contribute to the local community since this is a locally run agency.
We highly recommend this tour, which will let you discover the outskirts of Borobudur which hide various little villages each with their very own tradition: batik, pottery, artisanal tofu and artisanal rice snacks. You will also be able to get your hands dirty in various workshops! Our guide was young, enthusiastic and knowledgeable, explaining us every thing and more. He even took beautiful pictures and videos of us during the workshops. Don’t come to Borobudur just for the temple but also discover what’s beyond it with this wonderful tour!
Nuri, the guide who took care of me was so kind and helpful. He was adjusting to my pace, my needs . He also took the time to share a lot about the life around Borobudur. They even organised a special offering to hike Merbabu Mountain for me. I highly recommend them !
