There is one man who epitomizes Nottingham above all else and we will follow hot on his tail to various points in the City that are pivotal to the adventures of Robin Hood including the gatehouse and walls of Nottingham Castle.
Nottingham sits upon what is known as the City of Caves with there being almost 1,000 known caves beneath the city. In our tour we will descend underground, seeing the highlights, some of which were used in WW2 as public air-raid shelters
Visit the old Lace Market & uncover the secrets of this famous part of Nottinghams' heritage. We will also learn about some of the less palatable parts of the history of Nottingham, where many of the executions took place.
We end at possibly the oldest pub in Britain. Frequented by crusaders heading south and partially built into the rock beneath Nottingham Castle.

Dominated by its magnificent old town hall, the Old Market Square is about 13,000 sq feet, one of the largest city squares anywhere. Host to lots of local events and with shopping streets fanning out in all directions and trams nipping by. Home to several icons of Nottingham and also to some incredible history that even many locals just walk right over without noticing.

Nottingham's Medieval Town Wall
Many locals don't even know this is here. The only surviving and visible ruins of the old medieval walls that once stretched more than a mile around the city.

Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem
An old Crusader pub, hence the name. One of the very oldest pubs anywhere and partially built into the rock under Nottingham Castle. A great place to have a drink at the end of the tour or if you prefer, stay on for a meal.

This was a very interesting tour of Nottingham. The grandsons especially loved the City of Caves part. Stephen was a very interesting and interested tour guide.
Excellent tour that showed us the highlights of Nottingham hitting all the major places we wanted to see. Excellent tour guide who provided a nonstop set of anecdotes throughout the tour.
This was such a great tour. Our guide was friendly and a walking encyclopedia. He was so knowledgeable about so much history. I highly recommend it!
Great 👍 Experience Stopped A Few Hours
Stephen's vast array of knowledge around British history and the local area made for a colourful, context rich walk around Nottingham. The route was diverse and interesting, covering the a broad spectrum of the City's history from Norman times through to modern urban redevelopment. The caves, the castle, the streets, and the most fascinating pub I've ever visited, made for a wonderful few hours. I would recommend this for anyone who loves history, and wants a nicely paced tour of the City with a friendly and easy to talk with guide.
In depth walk around Nottingham. At our own pace with a knowledgeable guide. From the caves to the castle, the journey through time was enjoyable with interesting points of history explained by Stephen. So many things you would just walk past without knowing it!

Stephen was without a doubt, the most incredible and knowledgeable guide I have ever had the the experience of being with. His depth of knowledge of the history behind the places we visited is more than I have ever experienced. He manages to do provide this incredible level of information yet is comfortable to talk with and comes across as just a regular person with that is comfortable to talk with. I cannot give a higher recommendation than I would give for Stephen.
