Ready? Leave the buses and boardwalks behind. Hike high into the Alaska Range. Feel the wind in your hair. As the views unfold, you can’t peel your eyes away. The rugged mountains rise around you like castles. The wide valleys stretch into the distance. The greens, reds, and blues of the tundra create a patchwork quilt unlike any other.
Now pick your jaw back up! There’s more to see, and higher to go! Toil further up the steep ridge. Scramble over jagged rocks. Stroll through dips full of delicate wildflowers. Later in the season, enjoy the bounty of wild blueberries, lingonberries, currants, and more.
So tell me - will you settle for the buses and boardwalks most people in Denali see? Or will you come with us and adventure into the Alaska Range, seeing views normally reserved for the Dall sheep? The choice is yours.

Denali National Park and Preserve
You will be picked up from your hotel by one of our guides, then drive to the start of a trail leading up a mountain ridge. From there, your guide will take you up the mountain, stopping along the way to point out the fascinating natural features and ecosystems around you. As you climb higher into the alpine, you will be confronted with alpine tundra ecosystems and incredible views that you won't find anywhere else. When you get back to the van, your guide will drop you back off at your hotel lobby. The whole experience, from pickup to drop-off, will take approximately 4.5 - 5 hours.

Great hike with our guide, Beth. She taught us so much about the region and made this a most enjoyable hike!
Booked a private tour and it was honestly one of the best hikes I’ve done. Don was our guide and he was just great. Super friendly right from the start, easy to talk to, and clearly knew his stuff. What I appreciated most was how flexible he was - especially when we decided to take a slower route with different views, he just adjusted on the fly without any fuss. Made the whole day way better. He also pointed out a ton of plants and wildlife we would’ve walked right past. Knew the names, little facts about them, where to look… it felt like we were out with someone who actually lives and breathes this stuff, not just reading from a script. Really solid experience. If you go with Northern Epics, try to get Don. Highly recommend.
Our guide, Beth, was amazing!! It was just my husband and I on our tour and she did a great job tailoring the hike to our ability yet pushing us to be adventurous!! We so enjoyed learning about the plants, animals and just the sheer beauty of Denali National Park! Would highly recommend Beth and this hike!

What a wonderful introduction to Alaska's wilderness with Jade and Abby! We did the mountain hike with Jade on one day and the survival course the next day with Jade and Abby, and both were unforgettable experiences. The knowledge that Jade and Abby hold about Alaska's wilderness is very impressive, and what was really amazing is that with their excellent narration skills they were able to transfer some of that knowledge to us. I left our hike and survival trail walk with an appreciation for Alaskan wilderness and a many new skills. Jade also kept our hike moving at a very comfortable pace, taking advantage of every stop we made to catch our breath on the hike to teach us something new about nature and offering berry snacks from around us. A tour with Northern Epics is absolutely a must do during your Alaska trip!!
We had a great trip with our guide Adrian. Even our three teenagers, who are easily bored, thoroughly enjoyed it. The hike itself was fun with some fantastic views and Adrian did a fantastic job teaching us about the local plants and animals. He was a wealth of knowledge. We got to taste lots of interesting plants including a blueberry feast at the top of our hike. The hike itself was just the right amount of challenge and Adrian made sure everyone was comfortable with the pace.
Adrian was extremely knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of Denali. Challenging hike so take the poles that they offer. Beautiful spot up on the high ridge overlooking the valley.
