What you'll do
Escape into the beautiful Somerset countryside for a day of wine and cheese tasting, with a stop for Michelin-starred lunch (included) and garden tour! The first stop is a natural, biodynamic vineyard with breathtaking views over Chew Valley Lake. You'll learn about the biodynamic approach to viticulture and the impact it has on both of flavour of the wine and the land and you'll taste two of these unique wines. Then there will be a stop for a three course lunch at a famous rural restaurant! We'll also enjoy a tour of their beautiful gardens. We'll then head to the village of Cheddar. You'll have time to explore this charming village before taking a tour of a dairy that produces the only cheddar cheese made in Cheddar and taste some wonderful cheeses. Next, a vineyard cultured by the inspiring Ingrid, who has a passion for planet-friendly growing techniques. And, of course, you'll taste her fabulous wine! It was a memorable day out, with lots of diversity in the activities we did.
The venues we visited were great. The stories behind the food and drink were fascinating (particularly the biodynamic vineyard) and it was great to not to have to worry about booking the individual places or driving between. Am planning to book a private tour with friends next year.
We had a wonderful time on the cheese and wine tour and would highly recommend to all. I booked the tour for my boyfriend’s birthday present and we loved every minute of it. Both of the vineyards were fantastic but also different which really made the trip as we got to learn a lot from both. We drank plenty of wine and had a beautiful lunch at the Pony made even more special by the owner coming to welcome us. Florence was knowledgeable, friendly and just fantastic overall. A fabulous day out, really good value for a really full day. Two totally different vineyards with excellent knowledge and great wines, both extremely knowledgeable. Lovely tasty cheese with another expert and of course to great tasty meal at The Pony. Florence is a lovely guide who really made the day
A beautiful treat of a day guided by the brilliant Florence in a fun minibus with a lovely small group of people to some fantastic places outside Bristol. Yes, the sun was shining but the true magic came from the makers of wine and cheese who we met, and the stories we were told about their love for what they produce. Delicious things to eat and drink at every stop! Limeburn Hill Vineyard are total wizards in what they do and Tim, the gardener at The Pony was a characterful, knowledgeable legend who we could have listened to all day. Florence has curated a wonderful tour well worth booking on.
At first I was hesitant to book this tour because of the price. But with a Michelin star chef, a tour of his garden, two amazing wineries, and a trip to Cheddar with private cheese tasting, all on a comfortable minibus, it was well worth the price! Our guide, Florence, was very knowledgeable about viticulture and sustainable food and wine and extremely helpful and accommodating given that one of us had difficulties walking very far. A highlight of our days in Bristol!
A wonderful day - highly recommended The tour was relaxed and really informative. Who knew wine making is so complex? And then you taste the end result. And the cheese making was fun too. Florence was just great. Fun and friendly and had everything brilliantly organised. I've since convinced two friends to book a trip.
Amazing day out around Chew and Yeo Valley visiting super interesting (and tasty) local wine and cheese makers. Florence was a fantastic host. Would highly recommend!
