Small Group Hiking Sunset in Monolithos

We had an incredible time with our guide, Manuela, from Hiking Rhodes Team. This was by far the best thing we did during our holiday in Rhodes! We escaped the hustle and bustle and headed to beautiful Monolithos for a three-hour hike, finishing at Monolithos Castle in time to watch the sunset. Manuela was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and kind throughout. We were also provided with snacks, water and a beautiful Greek picnic to enjoy while watching the sunset. The hike itself was perfect for beginners. We stopped halfway for a refreshing dip in the sea before continuing on to the castle, with plenty of time to find a spot and enjoy the sunset. The route was absolutely beautiful, surrounded by pine and olive trees. One of the highlights was being welcomed by a huge group of goats halfway through the hike! You could hear all the bells hanging from their collars, ringing together like an orchestrated band, such a lovely and unexpected moment. I would 100% recommend this hike to anyone visiting Rhodes. A huge thank you to Manuela for such a wonderful experience! We really hope to join another hike with you in the near future. Perfect for fit and healthy beginners. Before the hike, we also ate at a small local restaurant called Greek House, which produces its own wine, olive oil, honey and souma. It was the perfect way to round off a brilliant day exploring this beautiful part of Rhodes.

Me and my husband booked this tour only a few days in advance and fortunately we were the only ones on it. The best guided hiking experience in our lives. We got picked up from the hotel by our Guide, Manuela, and we drove together straight to the starting point of a hike. The route was sooo picturesque - with lots of great spots for photos and simply to enjoy a wilder and calmer part of Rhodes. We had an hour long stop at a secluded beach with giant (as for the sea) waves and NO sunbeds/people on the beach and it was INCREDIBLE! No tourists, no noise,- just you, black sand and a sound of strong big waves. Like a dream. The sunset on Monolithos castle was majestic. I strongly urge everyone who’s considering this hike to book it ASAP, you will not be disappointed. Manuela also brought some food she gave us at the monolithos to enjoy together with the sunset - we had cheese with olives, juice (there was an option to have some wine, but we are both non-drinkers, so we had juice) and a greek snack. We did, however, have a lunch packed in advance we ate at the beach, I would recommend you do the same mainly because of the duration of the hike - the pick-up from Faliraki was around 1:20pm and we got back around 9:30pm - so bring some food and water. Manuela is an amazing woman, we loved spending this day with her. We learned a lot of things about Greece, the island itself and of course some interesting and important history :) I do hope you get to experience this hike if you’re on Rhodes - you will NOT be disappointed. If you do just one thing in Rhodes, make it a hike. The company not only offers the beautiful Monolithos route we took but also several others worth exploring. Our guide, Manuela, was fantastic—personable, knowledgeable about the trail itself, and full of fascinating insights into life on the island. The beach break for a swim was the perfect way to cool off, followed by a relaxing coffee by the sea. We did this hike on our last day, which was the only regret—we would have loved the chance to join more of their hikes!
