Overview

The History of Savannah Walking Tour is led by local guide Sarah Johnson and is intentionally designed as a small-group experience, giving guests a more personal and engaging way to explore Savannah’s Historic District. Rather than rushing from stop to stop, Sarah takes time to explain how Savannah’s unique city plan, historic squares, architecture, and landmarks shaped the city from its founding in 1733 onward.

With smaller groups, guests can comfortably hear, ask questions, and interact throughout the tour. The relaxed 90-minute experience covers approximately 1.5 miles, with frequent shaded stops along the way. It’s ideal for visitors who want meaningful history and storytelling without feeling hurried.

It’s not just about seeing Savannah — it’s about understanding it.

I've been on quite a few Savannah walking tours over the years as I've visited with different groups. This was my husband's first time in Savannah, so I knew I had to book another tour so that he could become familiar with the city's unique history and culture. Sarah is one of my favorite guides I've ever had the pleasure of taking a tour with. The pacing of the walk was great. Sarah is very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of the questions our group asked. I'd give her 5 out of 5 stars as a guide and definitely recommend this tour.

Great tour

This is a very good tour to get to know Savannah. Sarah was very knowledgeable and invited questions in addition to her prepared tour information. She was able to easily answer any questions we had. Most of the stops were shady, as is a lot of the city.
