Overview
This is a 100% Sea kayaking sight-seeing trip, passing all of Kekova's top landmarks, such as the Sunken City of Kekova, Simena Castle, Tersane (Shipyard) Bay, Theimussa (Ucagiz) and many others, all from the seat of a kayak. See Kekova as it is meant to be from the Turkish Riviera.
If you are a complete beginner or novice don't worry, this is a physical activity similar to going for a long brisk walk.

Demre (Kale)
The tour starts around 8:30 am when everyone gets on the bus in Demre for the drive to Uçağiz village, which takes about 45 minutes.

Ucagiz
You will then enter the water and start your first paddling session from Üçağiz to get accustomed to the kayak and practice proper navigation. We depart Ucagiz at 09:30 am with motorized support vessel to escort us, and paddle southwest down the coast towards the Kekova Island and arrive Tersane bay at 10:15 am and followed by a swimming break.

Tersane Koyu

Kekova
From there the group will slowly paddle over the ancient Lycian Sunken City of Kekova. Since this is a protected area, swimming is not permitted here.

Castle of Simena
After an exciting of adventure, we’ll head to Simena and arrive at 11:30 am, park in Kaleköy (ancient Simena Castle) for 45 mins, giving you time to visit this small authentic village that’s home to castle ruins and a necropolis.

Sunken City Ruins of Simena
A hike up the hillside will give you magnificent views of the Kekova region. If you’d prefer to admire Simena Castle from down below, you can use your remaining time to take another dip in the gorgeous blue waters.

In the afternoon we head back towards Theimussa for an up close view of more impressive Lycian sarcophagi and then return to our Kayak base. Following this you will move on to Üçağiz to enjoy lunch at 13:15 pm

We had such a great day kayaking around Kekova with SAILNSTAY. Yaşar (i hope i got your name right) was our guide and honestly made the day. He was friendly, easygoing and knew the area really well, so nothing ever felt rushed or overly organised. The kayaking itself was beautiful, especially being able to see the ruins and coastline from the water. We stopped for a swim, paddled through some amazing scenery and then made our way to Simena, where we climbed up to the castle. The walk up gets the legs working, but the view from the top is definitely worth it! We finished off with lunch, which was a really nice way to end the day sitting down, relaxing and talking about everything we'd just seen. It was one of those days that didn't feel like a typical organised tour. Just good people, beautiful scenery, a bit of history, swimming, kayaking and plenty of laughs along the way. Thanks Yaşar and the SAILNSTAY team. We loved it.
It was great. Our guide Yasah was great and very engaging. He also prepared us well for the journey. Sites was amazing as was the meal afterwards.
Good compromise to visit Kekova Bay, the Lycian tomb of Simena and the remains of the sunken city. A little sport but not hard and especially a nice walk. The restaurant on arrival is famous. The guide speaks English but with a medium level of understanding, no worries for instructions and explanations during the walk. Much nicer than a simple motorboat ride... Note: the guide will take a picture of you with his phone (and not with yours) and will make you pay at the restaurant at the end if you want to receive them by whatsapp...but not obliged 😉.
