You will be picked up and dropped off at your accommodation in a luxury, air conditioned Mercedes 7 x seater. Together we will explore the wild beauty of Dartmoor, with its windswept moors, ancient settlements and towering granite tors. Walk amongst the wild ponies and highland cattle whilst immersing yourself in mystical landscape before retreating to a traditional cosy pub (lunch is not included but we will reserve a table for you). Embrace locations that inspired Agatha Christie and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to write their most famous novels. Experience this breath-taking land of myths and legends from both the comfort of the Merecedes and on foot to ensure you “touch and feel” this unique entity. Discover, learn and importantly have some fun on this truly unique full day tour.

Princetown
A small moorland habitat whose residents in the prison make up over a quarter of the total population. It may not be the prettiest but mention the "Prince of Wales", a famous brewery and a mad axeman and you get an understanding of its diversity and intrigue.

Foggintor Quarry
The largest of the three main quarries on Dartmoor and without doubt the most spectacular. On first viewing you will be taken aback by its strange beauty, its stillness and the myths and legends harboured within it. The walk to and from the quarry is equal to the destination and fulfilling in itself.

No trip to Dartmoor is complete without the ascent of one of Dartmoors 150 plus tors. Probably the most famous and accessible, the 360 degree view from the top of Hay Tor will take your breath away and connect you with one of the most beautiful places on our planet. Our fully inclusive, premium service means we pick you up and drop you off at your accommodation within a 10 mile radius of Paignton TQ4 6BW and 5 mile radius of Ashburton TQ13 7DU ensuring you a hassle free day and maximum enjoyment. Additional mileage charge is £1.25 per mile which is be confirmed post booking when location is confirmed, there is the option to cancel FOC if this additional charge is not agreeable. Outstanding Day on Dartmoor

We had a fantastic day touring Dartmoor National Park with Nigel. He was truly exceptional. Nigel is a conversationalist. He's knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging, and he made our whole family feel comfortable and welcome from the start. Nigel put together a brilliant itinerary that kept all five of us entertained for the entire day, including kids aged 10, 13, and 17 (not an easy task!). He struck the perfect balance between history, scenery, and fun, and even created a quiz at the end of the day just for the kids, which they loved. The ultimate endorsement came from our 10‑year‑old, who said Nigel was the best guide of our entire UK trip — even better than the Gentleman Warder at the Tower of London (and that's high praise because the Gentleman Warder's are really engaging tour guides). Thank you to Nigel for a truly memorable day on Dartmoor. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this tour to families or anyone looking for an engaging and personalized experience.

Perfect for mum

My husband and I were visiting his mum, who is 91, and wanted to take her on an outing, something different for her but also manageable. Nigel's tour was a delight! He made sure it was tailored to mum's mobility challenges and she was able to see beautiful places and have a lovely fish and chips lunch. Wonderful experience for all of us!

A perfect day in Dartmoor!

I highly recommend this tour company for anyone going anywhere in Southwest England! We had an absolutely lovely day with Nigel and loved our tour of Dartmoor. From start (when he picked us up from our Airbnb) to finish (when he dropped us off again—what service!), the tour was perfectly planned, with enough time at each stop to get to learn the history and see all the beautiful sites, while still keeping things moving along so we could maximize our time and get the most of the day. Nigel went out of his way to make the tour fun for all us, quickly learning what aspects of the tour we were most interested in (history, literature, animals, etc.), and then pointing out any relevant facts or points of interests based on what we like. We were so impressed by the beauty of the area, and we learned so much! It’s such a treat to be able to sit back and relax while someone else does the driving (Nigel is a pro on all those narrow roads!), and to learn so much while enjoying such beautiful sites. We’re already talking about going back to Devon again, and when we do, we will absolutely book another tour with Nigel!

We had a fascinating day out with Nigel!

We had a wonderful day with our guide, Nigel. We experienced and discovered so much and heard so many stories. My family (young and old) really enjoyed it, and we would never have discovered all these enchanted places, natural wonders, and legends on our own. A Memorable Experience in Devon and Cornwall

If you’re interested in the history, culture and natural beauty of Southwest England, Nigel Makin, Devon&Moor, is for you. Nigel is one of the smartest and safest drivers I have encountered and I’ve visited every continent. He’s curious and passionate and does his research to satisfy his own curiosity and the expectations of his guests. The four days we spent with Nigel were comfortable and pleasant. He’s professional, engaging, funny and full of information including historical and current photos. Nigel will determine your needs, expectations and desires and customize your tour to accommodate them. He will share little known incidents and secrets that few people are aware of and that you will never learn from guides on “big” tours. You’ll experience quaint fishing villages, amazing structures, historical landmarks, dramatic vistas and incredible natural beauty. Thank you, Nigel, for an experience we won’t forget.

One action-packed day on the moor.

This was such a magical and informative day! My wife and I booked when something else fell through, but now we're so happy that it did. Not only was the tour educational, but it was also peppered with so many fun facts and smaller stories that made history and region come alive. Thank you so much Nigel!
