Cappadocia : Sunset Hiking Tour

If you want to immerse yourself in the beauty of Goreme, and access parts of the area that the more common tours miss, this is definately one for you. Dogukan is really knowlegeable and has a passion for the area and history and really brings the tour to life. You'll need walking shoes and be reasonably fit as you'll scramble into many caves as well as climbing to the viewpoint for sunset. 100% recommended and Dogukan even provided a glass of wine at the end!

After joining Doğukan’s full-day private tour, we also decided to take his hiking tour, and we were very happy that we did. We explored hidden monasteries and churches inside the valley, and the views were absolutely beautiful. The best part was enjoying wine together at sunset. We were lost and trying to find our way around rose valley when we bumped into Dogukan. He and his tour were graceful enough to let us join. Serendipity at work. We ended up having an amazing unexpected experience, exploring churches and homes in chimneys. Dogukan is very knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the role in fairy chimneys and pigeons in conserving so many amazing fresco’s.

Honestly? It was the best decision we made during our entire trip to Cappadocia. From the very first minute, you can feel a huge difference when you’re shown around by a local guy who’s from there and truly lives and breathes this place. No stiff, formulaic phrases, no regurgitating dates from a textbook, and no boring lectures. Instead, we got a massive dose of authentic history, tons of interesting facts about the landmarks, and, above all, a brilliant insight into what everyday life in Cappadocia is really like from the inside. He’s an incredibly warm, open, and friendly guy. The whole tour felt more like a casual outing with a good friend showing you their favorite spots than an official tour with a hired guide. Everything happened at a leisurely pace, in a delightful and relaxed atmosphere. If you’re going to Cappadocia for the first time or even if you’re returning for another visit but want to finally get to know the place for what it really is, without the hype, and not just from postcards on the internet book him without hesitation.
