Archaeological Park of Pompeii
24 augusti 79 e.Kr. började som någon annan dag ... en plötslig katastrof slog en livlig stad som ligger nära en av de viktigaste handelshamnarna i det romerska riket. När den största vulkanen på den italienska halvön utbröt blev hela staden utplånad över natten begravd under vulkanisk aska. Stadens namn var Pompeii. I slutet av 25 augusti hade landskapet runt Mount Vesuvius ändrats för evigt och Pompeji hade blivit helt begravd. Inom några år kunde ingen komma ihåg var staden en gång stod. När dess utgrävning började nästan 1700 år senare blev det förvånad världen. Under vulkanaska har staden blivit vackert bevarad. En tidskapsel som avslöjade århundraden senare, vilket stadsliv hade varit som vid det romerska rikets tid. Inte bara stadsbyggnaderna var perfekt bevarade, vulkanisk aska förseglade också sina kroppar och deras tankar klibbade ofta in i gipsväggarna före den plötsliga tragedin. Om du tittar på de många och ibland dolda detaljerna i Pompeji, kommer du att veta om dess invånare, deras liv och deras önskemål som aldrig kom i uppfyllelse ... Ada was amazing. She kept the two teenagers engaged the entire tour. Very knowledgeable about Pompeii and the surrounding area.
We highly recommend Ada for a tour of Pompeii. With 25 years of experience, she is articulate in English, knowledgeable, warm, and offers a well paced tour of the site. With decades of travel experience, and considerable knowledge of archaeology and Roman antiquities, we rarely hire guides, preferring to explore at our own pace. However, Pompeii is so vast, far more than can be covered in a day even with helpful guidebooks, and offers so much to learn, we opted for a private guide for the two of us. Ada came highly recommended by a close friend, who had hired her for a family tour 7 years earlier and kept her contact information. We learned so much about the daily life of Pompeii, and the art and architecture that we would have overlooked on our own. She answered all our questions expertly, providing a helpful overview at the start of our day, and throughout her route. Given the time and expense of traveling to Pompeii, Ada made our visit that much more worthwhile. She also offers tours of Herculaneum, and if we had more time in Sorrento, we would have hired her again for a second adventure together.
5* is not enough to truly reflect how awesome Adas tour of Pompeii was! Ada's knowledge of the history of Pompeii was mind-blowing and her passion for her topic a joy to be made part of. She answered every question we had and then added to it! When showing us a fresco, Ada didn't just point them out for us, she then explained exactly what we were seeing, what the paintings represented and more! However, what made her tour a cut above others was how she made Pompei come to life for us! Her descriptions and stories set the scene of Pompei life before, during and after Vesuvius erupted. She painted a picture of a busy, bustling city that one minute was alive and vibrant and the next minute silent and gone. Ada goes above and beyond with the service she offers you. Not only did she extend her tour to be able to fully answer our questions and show us more, Ada suggested other areas of Pompei we could visit whilst we were there and asked us to call her if we wanted anymore information of things to see during our stay. We plan to return and Ada will be our 1st booking as she does a Herculaneum tour too!:D
The tour was amazing, I learned so much about Pompeii, Ada is very knowledgeable and good at conveying information in an interesting manner. The tour truly felt like a walk through the past and is something I will remember for a long time.

We had an excellent tour with Ada. She was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable, answering lots of additional questions that we came up with. As we have already visited Pompeii a few years ago, she tailored the tour to cover the material that was new to us. Ada also guided us on the logistics (we travelled from Sorrento) and on the advance purchase of tickets. She met us promptly, and gave us suggestions after the 2-hour tour on which other areas of Pompeii to explore on our own and on where to have a picnic.
