Vad du får göra
Man börjar inte med att hålla ett svärd. Du börjar med att förstå var kendo kommer ifrån, och varför Japans anda lever i den. Etikett och respekt Innan träningen lugnar du sinnet och bugar. Inte som en formalitet, utan som ett sätt att möta andra med respekt. Ki – Spirit Du lär dig hur samurajer uttrycker sin närvaro och kampvilja, inte genom ilska, utan genom fokuserad avsikt. Tai – Kropp Du tränar traditionellt fotarbete som håller kroppen jordad, balanserad och redo. Ken – Svärd Först då lär du dig hur man håller svärdet, hur man svingar det och hur man rör sig med det. Ki-Ken-Tai-Itchi Ande, svärd och kropp förenas. Detta är grunden till en sann samurajattack. Match Du omsätter allt i praktiken i en riktig kendomatch. De som har modet kan utmana en veteran kendoinstruktör och känna pressen på nära håll. Demonstration Titta på en intensiv match mellan instruktörer och bevittna kraften och kontrollen av riktig kendo. Avslutande etikett Efter att ha tränat tillsammans bugar alla ännu en gång, med respekt ända till slutet.

The experience at Kendo Spirit was wonderful. This is not a quick touristy experience but rather a serious (but fun) comprehensive lesson about Kendo, its history, cultural importance and spirituality. There were 7 of us ranging in age from 20s to 60s, showing that it's an experience accessible to all ages. The class was done in a way that gave everyone the opportunity to learn each move slowly and then incorporate it all for a battle at the end.
An absolutely fantastic experience at Kendo Spirit. Daichi was a brilliant instructor teaching both the tradition and physical elements of Kendo. Would definitely recommend this as an experience for anyone with even a passing interest in Japanese culture and martial arts.
My 7-year old and I went having no idea what to expect. It was wonderful from beginning to end. Before the lesson, emails were sent to make sure they had the right size uniforms for us and very clear instructions with photos of where the studio is located. The lesson itself was so much fun! We had an informative introduction to the history and values and then a great lesson on the essential movements. Both instructors were very patient with my kid and supportive. We both recommend this experience and would definitely try it again!
This is an amazing experience. It’s something I wouldn’t normally do, as completely out of my comfort zone. I am so glad I did. It was very educational as well as practical and helps you understand the concept behind the art. Well worth a go, you won’t regret the experience.

Both the sensei and his colleague were very professional, yet friendly and approachable. We learnt a great deal about this martial art, and it has opened the way for us to continue studying it in the future. I highly recommend this authentic experience and insight into Japanese traditions.
This was a great experience. In the 2 hours you are learning, you will come away with a great understanding of the history, meaning and discipline it takes to practice Kendo. I never dod this before and was not overwhelmed. The instructor and his assistant tookngood care of the class.
