Our private 4x4 tour with 101 Routes Madeira was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our time in Madeira. We explored the beautiful west of the island, including Porto Moniz and the magical Fanal Forest, but what really made the experience exceptional was our guide, Antonio. Antonio was incredibly kind, thoughtful and generous with his knowledge. Throughout the day, he shared stories and insights about Madeira’s history, culture, plantations and vegetation, marine life, architecture and local traditions. He didn’t simply take us from one attraction to another — he helped us understand the island and notice things we would otherwise have passed without knowing their significance. His enthusiasm and affection for Madeira are infectious. We particularly appreciated how relaxed and flexible the day felt. There was never a sense of rushing through a checklist of tourist stops; everything felt personal and adapted to us. Even lunch became part of the experience. Antonio chose O Justino – Casa de Pasto, a wonderful local restaurant where we tried the traditional Espetadas. It was authentic, delicious and exactly the kind of place we would never have discovered by ourselves. Madeira is beautiful on its own, but having someone like Antonio introduce you to its stories, people, landscape and traditions makes you experience it very differently. A memorable day and an experience we would wholeheartedly recommend. Thank you, Antonio!
We went on a private West Island tour as a family of 4 yesterday. Our guide Pedro was outstanding! He took us to lots of hidden gems and we learnt so much about Madeira. We’ve been on many tours in different countries and this was by far our favourite due to Pedro. We would highly recommend this company. Thank you for an unforgettable day Pedro!

Our family of 3 (including our 10 year old child) had an unforgettable full-day West Coast Tour. From stepping onto the terrifying yet thrilling Cabo Girão skywalk to swimming in the Porto Moniz volcanic lava pools, it was the perfect blend of jaw-dropping landscapes and family-friendly fun. The full-day itinerary was incredibly well-paced, taking the stress out of navigating the island's famously narrow, winding roads. Highlights included exploring the ancient Fanal Forest, gazing at the stunning waterfall views, and enjoying a fantastic 2 hour swim in Porto Moniz which our daughter loved. Our guide was phenomenal — personable, informative, and incredibly accommodating to our family's needs. The transport was really comfortable, and we were safely picked up and dropped off directly at our Funchal hotel. Highly recommend booking this iconic excursion direct with Antonio!
Great tour, very easy going. Antonio ajusts the tour perfectly to suit you with no rush or expectations. You will stop off at a number of well known and lesser known view points. Make sure that you bring a layers with you as is customary in Madeira due to the variety in weather that you experience. There are a couple of attractions along the route that you will need to pay to access but you can always decline if you don't wish to visit them. Antonio kindly booked us into a nice restaurant for us to visit for lunch, were a little unsure at first but the food choices and service was excellent.
The experience began with prompt and great communication from Antonio . Pick up was on time from our hotel and we were made to feel welcome straight away . I can’t put into words as well as some of the other reviews but Antonio was friendly , funny and very knowledgable. We felt very safe and looked after in his hands . We saw so much of the west side of island and felt we benefited from a smaller more personal tour . Antonio’s enthusiasm and love for his island came across throughout the day . The weather didn’t go to plan due to the time of year / storm wind coming across so we didn’t get to swim at Porto Moniz but this did not in anyway distract from the whole trip - I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and would even take the same tour again ! Thank you for a fabulous day and for your warm welcome to Madeira as first time visitors . Great value for money and as a way to experience some of the island .
Antonio arrived right on time and asked if we had any must-see spots. We told him to just take us where he thought we’d love most – and he delivered! His Land Rover 4x4 took us to hidden spots most tours never reach. Some off-road sections were pure adrenaline, surrounded by breathtaking views and areas we’d never have found on our own. Antonio’s passion for Madeira shines. He’d pull over to show us native plants, share island history, and even let us stand up in the 4x4 for a one-of-a-kind perspective. His farming roots make his knowledge authentic and fun to hear. He’s funny, personable, and clearly proud of what he does. We loved it so much we booked him for another tour before the day was over. We ended the tour with a taste of Madeira wine. Highly recommend – book with Antonio!
