We had an amazing experience on the Old City Tour, and our guide, Yusuf, made it truly unforgettable. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and had a great sense of humor, making the tour both fun and informative from start to finish. His storytelling brought Istanbul’s rich history to life, and he was always happy to answer questions and share interesting facts. We learned so much while enjoying every moment of the tour. Sabit is exceptional. Spending a full day in Istanbul with Sabit Kara in October 2025 was one of the highlights of our trip. Sabit is exceptionally knowledgeable—not just about Turkish history, but about world and regional history as well. At every site, he provided rich context that made what we were seeing come alive. His storytelling is outstanding: he weaves historical detail, cultural insight, and human narrative together in a way that is both engaging and memorable. Emperor Justinian and Empress Theodora?! The mind boggles. We were very happy how he tailored the day to us. Sabit asked thoughtful questions early on to understand our interests, and from that point forward he shaped the experience seamlessly. We visited the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the Basilica Cistern, enjoyed a typical Turkish lunch, and explored several additional sites—each stop enriched by his depth of knowledge and his ability to connect past and present. We had a wide ranging and frank discussion of religion and politics--something he did with us though i am confident he would not if that was not what you were interested in. It was thoughtful and rewarding. Beyond being an excellent guide, Sabit was simply a great companion for the day: erudite, open, warm, and easy to talk to. We never felt rushed, and we always felt cared for. If you want a guide who brings Istanbul’s history to life with clarity, enthusiasm, and genuine curiosity about his guests, Sabit Kara is outstanding. Highly recommended.
