Its missing nose is often surrounded by myths, but historical evidence suggests it was damaged centuries ago by erosion or human action. Over time, the statue was repeatedly buried by sand and later excavated and restored. The Great Sphinx remains one of the most mysterious and iconic monuments of ancient Egypt.
