We will also visit the sites of the US Airborne Operation, including its most iconic site, Sainte-Mère-Eglise, where a terrible battle happened on the night of June 5, 1944. Finally, we will have the chance to pay our respects to the thousands of men who gave their lives to liberate Europe by visiting the Normandy American Cemetery.

You will start the day at Omaha Beach where the 1st and 29th US infantry divisions landed. Our guides, with the help of maps and pictures, will explain to you all the details of “bloody Omaha”. From the layout of the German defenses to the plight of the first waves, we will share with you the stories of these brave GI’s who conquered the beach.

Cimetiere Americain de Colleville-sur-Mer
Our guide will show you the American Cemetery behind Omaha beach. the resting place of more than 9,000 American servicemen and women. This sacred place, run by the American Battle Monuments Commission, is the most visited D-Day site in Normandy.

Pointe du Hoc
You will discover the unique site of Pointe du Hoc. Follow the footsteps of the 2nd US Ranger Battalion led by the famous Lieutenant Colonel James E. Rudder who scaled the cliffs to destroy a German gun battery threatening the whole US landing operation. Bomb craters, bunkers, dugouts, come and see this outstanding battlefield.

In the heart of the Airborne operation, you will visit the small town of Sainte-Mere-Eglise. It was the first town to be captured by the American paratroopers. One of them got stuck up on the church tower during that night. Your guide will share with you the details of this crucial operation and many stories of these brave men.

Utah Beach
At Utah Beach your guide will tell you how the 4th Infantry Division successfully breached the German defenses. The first wave was led by Brigadier General Theodore Roosevelt Jr who landed on that Beach at 6:30am. He was eventually awarded the Medal of Honor.

Angoville-Au-Plain
Our guide will bring you to the church of Angoville-au-Plain. Two medics set up an aid station in this church on D-Day. They treated about 80 wounded soldiers for two days. Discover their heroic feat, a moving story about humanity and dedication on the battlefield.

Visiting the WW2 sites was one of the most moving experiences we have ever had. Pierre M brought history to life with his vast knowledge of the soldiers, battle strategies, and the aftermath of the war and its impact on the local populace and landscape. He conducted our trip in flawless, precise English, chose wonderful restaurants and thoughtful rest stops throughout the day, and his car (Mercedes) was cool and very comfortable as we traversed the many sites. We have gone on three different tours with him (Band of Brothers Tour, bespoke D-Day tour and relaxing day in and around Honfleur tour) and he enriched our experience immeasurably. We hope to do a Mount St Michel tour with him next time! Highly recommend this wonderful local company and Pierre M.
Mickael was an outstanding Normandy tour guide! We did the “American tour” - Omaha, Utah, etc) and he was incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and passionate about the history of the region and the D-Day sites. We had a great day touring historical sites around Normandy with our guide/driver/expert, Sophie. Sophie was very kind, so well-informed, and did a great job. She connected with each of our kids (ages 7-15) and worked to make sure everyone was seeing something of interest or importance to them. We seemed to see the big important sites, while simultaneously avoiding big crowds. The tour felt individual and personal. Sophie was thoughtful and personable- we enjoyed learning about the history and getting to see this beautiful area through a local’s eyes. Communication between HQ, Sophie and us was strong and we knew what to expect. The van was comfortable, clean and nice and cool. It was a great tour and day!
We toured with Gwen. I had a previous experience with him two years ago and knew that I wanted to tour with him again. Weeks before we exchanged email with my interest and his suggestions. He was waiting at our meeting point when we arrived and we hit the ground running. I along with my family of five were engaged throughout the tour. Gwen, knew where to-park, where to walk, and what areas would be of interest to our group. Gwen knew the right place to stop for lunch and pick up a quick bite to eat. A special point on the tour was our visit to the American cemetery. Gwen arranged a visit to my son-in-law‘s great uncle‘s grave. Gwen handled everything with the cemetery personnel, and we were provided a golf cart ride to the gravesite along with a very special ceremony that the cemetery personnel provided. Gwen realized my special interest in the Band of Brothers sites and included a few extra points of interest and discussion during the tour. What a great fun personable guy who is also very intelligent with World War II history. If I ever make it back to Normandy I will look up Gwen.
Our family of 4 (two adults, preteen kids) did a personalized full-day tour with Yannick last week and it was incredible. Per his recommendation, we hit the D-Day highlights in the morning. We visited Omaha beach, the Normandy American Cemetery, and a few other key spots. Then, after lunch, we followed in the footsteps of my grandfather, who fought in Normandy during WWII. Using some basic information I'd provided, Yannick did extensive research on my grandfather's Company's movements during the two months after D-Day. He drove us to several sites, showing us photos and troop movements using maps, and telling us about some of the things he'd experienced. Like many men of that generation, my grandfather had not spoken much about is service during the war. It was very poignant to get a small taste of his actions during those key months, and overall an experience that I'll never forget. Yannick is a fantastic storyteller, who kept my kids engaged the entire time -- even my child who was not at all interested in the topic. He's extremely energetic, passionate and knowledgeable, and we'll never forget the extra mile he went to help us learn more about my grandfather.
A fantastic full-day tour from Bayeux with Paul! We had an amazing experience discovering the D-Day sites in Normandy. The tour was very well organized, comfortable, and full of fascinating historical context. Paul was an excellent guide: very knowledgeable, passionate, and genuinely funny. We especially loved the way he told the stories behind each place. He made the history feel alive, while still being respectful of the importance and emotion of the sites. The balance between clear explanations, great storytelling, and lighter moments made the whole day both moving and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Normandy and wanting to understand the history of the D-Day landings in a deeper and more memorable way. 5 stars without hesitation!
This was our second visit to Normandy, but our first using Viator. Fantastic experience for two reasons: Bryce, our guide, was amazing. He was warm and engaging. He narrated the “D Day story” clearly and accurately- with lots of facts and color that our “Band Of Brothers” obsessed grandson wanted. It was a challenging day because of heavy rain, but he worked around that and followed an itinerary we specifically wanted. I also very much appreciated the Vistor service as they answered every question I had regarding this tricky booking (I also have had great service from Viator on another reservation change later in this trip.
Yannick is a superb storyteller! He was recommended to us quite enthusiastically from a client, and we booked him to do full day tours of the Normandy D-Day landings, and of Mont St Michelle. He is an expert on the history of the area, and his passion and enthusiasm are evident in all of the details that he brought to life through his storytelling. Practically speaking, we had a group of 18 people to manage and he assisted us with every detail, from restaurant reservations for our lunch during the tour, to helping manage the flow of the group in crowded areas. He even arranged a special walk through the bay of Mont St Michelle with a park ranger- quite a highlight. Best of all, Yannick was so warm, engaging and entertaining that the long bus rides flew by. When we bring our next group to this area, we’ll definitely do more with Yannick and HQ Tours
