Captain Grant, who holds a 100-ton Master of Inland Waters License from the U.S. Coast Guard, is dedicated to sharing the joy of being on the water with others. A former reporter for the Seattle Times, former Science and Medical writer for the Associated Press, and author of four books (one of which was named one of the year’s 10 Best nonfiction books by the American Library Association) Grant is a natural story teller.

Golden Gardens Park
On the way out of the marina, enjoy the view of more than 1,800 yachts as we then pass by Seattle's favorite saltwater park Golden Gardens as we set sail, heading west across Puget Sound.

Discovery Park
To the south, we will sail past Discovery Park with its historic West Point Lighthouse, which has protected ships from shoal waters while entering Seattle since 1881.

Mount Baker - Snoqualmie National Forest
On a clear day, to the north, enjoy the view of Mount Baker, the state's second highest mountain. It's called a "Two Mountain Day" when you can see Mount Baker to the north and Mount Rainier to the south while sailing across Puget Sound.

Olympic National Park
As we sail west, across the sound we will be aimed directly at the magnificent Olympic Mountains, the heart of Olympic National Park. For sunset sails, the mountains make for stunning sunsets. As the sun sets behind them it illuminates the mountain range and any wispy clouds above.

Captain Grant and his daughter Grace were excellent hosts and very attentive and informative. they were awesome. would highly recommend this trip for a nicerelaxing trip around Puget sound
We had a wonderful sail on the Puget Sound with Captain Grant and his daughter, Grace. Blue skies, lots of wildlife (seals and pups, blue herons, and dolphins), some history, and a bit of a sailing lesson for the whole family! Also some great stories from Captain Grant (ask him about his adventures climbing Mount Rainier or his sails across the Pacific!). Brought a special champagne and sipped it out on the water… a perfect afternoon. Highly recommend.
Captain Grant, and his lovely daughter, were a joy to sail with. The conversation was insightful and enjoyable, and the views were beautiful. All passengers were given a turn to steer the boat, as well as learn some of the basics of sailing. We were able to spot some seals playing and relaxing along the rocks, much to Capt. Grant’s delight. I highly recommend booking your Puget Sound sailing experience with him, if you’re looking for a relaxing, engaging and small-group experience.

Loved the laid back, friendly vibe of this trip! Got to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery which included baby seals sunning on the rocks on way out of the marina. Captain Grant and his daughter Grace were most hospitable and generous in sharing details of the area. Each of the passengers even had a turn in steering the boat! Highly recommend!
Capt Grant and his daughter were awesome! Very accommodating. Very knowledgeable. They provided an incredible experience and treated us all like family coming in for a weekend visit. Would highly recommend.
This trip was amazing. We managed to see seals, sea lions and dolphins all in one trip. So relaxing and the captain was very accommodating to everyone on board. It was the best way to spend and afternoon.
