Half Day Luxor East Bank Karnak and Luxor Temples

We loved our experience visiting Luxor and Karnak temples. Our guide was so knowledgeable and passionate about the ancient Egypt history. His energy was contagious. Good value for money.

Had an amazing tour of Luxor over 3 days with our wonderful and very informed guide; Hassan Ashour. He not only studied Egyptology but as a native of Luxor, he has a real passion for the history and what he does and it comes across as he gives a very detailed history about every location and even translates the hieroglyphics. We were picked up from the airport and decided to start our tour right away as it was in the afternoon & most of the sites would be empty cause of the heat. We started at Al Karnak Temple, where we spent about 2 hours walking through and learning about the history. ( Nothing prepares you for the scale of the Hall of columns ) From there We spent the next hour and a half at Luxor temple. Our second day started out early 7:30am with a visit to Medinat Habu - Temple of Ramesses III, where it was really nice to witness some restoration works been done, ( love how they appreciate and work to preserve their history ) and from there to the Temple of Hatshepsut, where we got a very detailed history about one of the few and most popular female pharaohs. ( Hassan has a lot of interesting stories about her ) We visited a local alabaster factory after we left the temple, where we got to experience how some of the souvenirs are made and from there we went to the Valley of the kings, where we visited 3 tombs and hassan ( cause of his experience and knowledge selected a tomb that didn’t have any other tourists and is shared by one of the few Queens to buried in the Valley of the Kings and a king who left his part of the tomb unfinished. Walking through the valley of the kings, surrounded by those mountains, is very humbling. Ended the day with lunch a local restaurant at about 3:30 and retired to our hotel after that. Day 3 and our final day meant getting picked up at 3:30am and taking a short boat cruise across the Nile in the dark ( they actually provide you with tea to help with the morning cold ) to the east side for our ballon ride which due to weather conditions didn’t start till 5:30am but was still well worth it. We got to spend only 3 magical days in Luxor and we loved ever minute of it. My advise: Use a local guide & there’s no one better than Hassan Ashour, also plan to stay at least 5days, there’s so much to see and experience. Can’t wait to return.

Hassan was attentive, considerate and full of relevant information. I would recommend him and Ask the Egyptian for anyone visiting Luxor. Local guides are the way to go in my opinion. Thank you 🙏🙏
