Discovering Santorini : A 3-Hour Private Highlights Tour

A private 3 hour tour is the best way to see Santorini. Allow plenty of time to get off the cruise ship to allow for the tender and cable car. Our guide was wonderful. He knew all the best photo spots and even took photos of us. He treated us to an icecream and gelato.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Going to Santorini was a dream come true for us, but we wanted someone who could really show us the island, its attractions and its history — and Dimitris was exceptional from beginning to end. His communication was fantastic from the start. He messaged me the day before to introduce himself and made himself available for any questions we had. We were a group of five — myself, my fiancée, my mum, dad and brother — and one of my biggest concerns was my mum’s mobility. She struggles with walking and my dad is her carer. I explained this to Dimitris beforehand and he was incredibly understanding. Rather than this being a problem, he adapted the tour around her needs and planned to get my parents as close as possible to the attractions and viewpoints with minimal walking. On the day, Dimitris arrived nice and early and immediately made us feel welcome. He was warm, kind, constantly smiling and incredibly knowledgeable. What really stood out was how passionately he spoke about Santorini — you could tell he genuinely loves the island and enjoys sharing its history with visitors. We had three main stops. At the first two, Dimitris managed to get us close enough that my mum could enjoy the views without struggling, while he explained the history and significance of everything we were seeing. He also took some amazing photographs of our family, which was such a lovely bonus. Our final stop was Oia, where Dimitris explained that there would be considerably more walking. He made sure my mum and dad were comfortable at a café before taking myself, my fiancée and brother around Oia. And Oia was absolutely breathtaking. It was everything we’d imagined Santorini to be — but Dimitris really was the cherry on top. A cruise ship had arrived that day, so Oia was unbelievably busy. The famous viewpoints were congested and some of the tiny alleyways were packed with people. Somehow, with Dimitris, this barely affected us! He knew Oia so well that he guided us around the crowds, knew exactly where to go and even knew the best angles and locations for photographs. We got some incredible pictures without spending our time fighting through crowds or waiting endlessly. It also became very apparent walking around Oia that Dimitris seems to know everyone! 😂 People were constantly greeting him, which isn’t surprising considering how friendly, caring and likeable he is. Through his local connections, he was even able to take us to a private residence viewing spot, giving us an incredible view away from the crowds that we had completely to ourselves. That was such a special experience and something we simply wouldn’t have found on our own. After showing us around Oia, Dimitris gave us some free time to explore the shops at our own pace. Rather than simply waiting around, he went back to the café to be with my mum and dad while we shopped, which I thought said so much about the kind of person he is. Afterwards, he collected us all and began taking us back to our hotel. Even on the journey back, his kindness continued. My dad needed to quickly stop at a convenience store, and Dimitris was more than happy to stop and wait for him. When my dad came back with his shopping, Dimitris even got out and helped him with the bags. It may sound like a small thing, but moments like that really summed him up for us. Nothing ever seemed like an inconvenience, and he was constantly looking for ways to help. Dimitris didn’t just feel like someone taking us from attraction to attraction. He genuinely cared about whether every member of our family was comfortable and enjoying the experience. His patience and consideration towards my mum meant a huge amount to us, because her mobility could easily have prevented my parents from experiencing parts of Santorini. Santorini itself was unforgettable, but having Dimitris show it to us made the experience even more special. His knowledge, passion, local connections, kindness and personality were exceptional.
