I could tell the instructor has a great passion for kimono art as she enthusiastically shared her story and her reason for why she decided to host this workshop. She really wanted to share the art of Kimono design with others and the joy of preserving its heritage as well as finding second life for such clothing. The instructor gave a clear, concise and engaging presentation of kimono, and the process of making the final products was well instructed. Basic japanese conversation and knowledge is recommended to enjoy the workshop
I had a really great time at the Kimono Art Workshop in Tokyo with Beauty of Japan. The whole experience was fun, relaxing, and really easy to enjoy from start to finish. The staff was incredibly kind, patient, and professional, and she created such a welcoming atmosphere. She explained everything clearly and helped whenever needed without making it feel intimidating or complicated. The workshop itself was beautiful and a really unique way to experience Japanese culture. I loved being able to create something personal and artistic while spending an hour and a half doing something different from the usual tourist activities. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Japan.
My wife and I had an amazing time. We loved learning about the history and the culture of kimono from a wonderful host and the art piece we made are going to be a great reminder of our trip to japan
Such a fun and unique experience! The instructor guided us smoothly with clear instructions, so everything felt easy. I also loved learning the meanings behind the patterns. Highly recommend!
Thanks to the careful instruction of a very kind teacher, I was able to create a one-of-a-kind souvenir from Japan.
Such a fun experience! Was great to learn about the history and symbolism of kimonos. Staff are so friendly and helpful plus a beautiful selection of fabric to use. I can’t recommend the experience enough!
After having a busy time in Japan, I wanted a more relaxing and fun activity to do and this was perfect. There were only 2 of us and Yuki and her colleague (sorry I cannot remember her name) were amazing. We not only undertook our activity but time was taken to explain the cultural and historical aspects of Kimonos and Obis. They were on hand to help always and both me and the other person needed a lot of help! The small touches were also very appreciated - you were given a personalised paper which explained what your chosen fabric showed and gave a historical background. It also explained any symbolism which I thought was a nice touch. They also have a wall set up for you to hang your canvas and for you to take pictures. I recommend this activity
We had a great time in this workshop! The instructors were very knowledgeable about both the history of kimonos and the various ways they are still worn today, and we had a great time picking out our fabrics and making our art panels. It was wonderful getting to repurpose textiles that were no longer serving their original purpose.
