The Sartorius Mountains (1,720 m) will be the place where we will wait for the sunrise. They are ancient craters formed during the 1865 eruption. The name is a tribute to Wolfgang Sartorius von Waltershausen, the first scientist to catalog the eruptions of the volcano in the 19th century. From the Sartorius Mountains we will move to the Grotta della Neve, a small lava flow tunnel used in the past as a snow mill (place where snow was kept for the summer season). The last leg of the tour will take us to Case Pietracannone. From the structure we will follow the path to Monte Fontane, crossing the lava fields of the eruptions of 1950-51 and 1979. Reached the top of the mountain (1,278 m), in front of us the panorama will open on the vast black sea of the Valle del Bove.
Returning to the meeting point we will thank our guests with a typical Sicilian breakfast.

We’ve had the most magnificent ETNA-day with Augusto. At dawn he took us to a hidden spot on the rim of Valle del Bove, to admire how the first rays of a purple-orange morning sun gradually enlightened Mama-Etna. A sight of unmatched beauty. As the golden bridge of the Sun started to build up over the misty blue sea, he surprised us with an impromptue picnic, pastry served with cappuccino and freshly prepared milk froth. The entire day went on in this spirit: Augusto doing all possible to make our day on (and inside) Mama-Etna unforgettable. We learned about Sicilian history in both human and earthly dimensions, about Mama-Etna’s life (yes, a living creature!), and her journey towards the centre of the island (Palermo, beware!), Sicilian culture … and … yes … gastronomy. What a wonderful and rich gastronomy! At the end of a week-long stay, when we thought to have seen and experienced most of what Sicily has to offer, Augusto made us desperately wanting to go back. He is a highly knowledgeable personal guide with an exceptional ambition and ability to enchant his guests. We are waiting for his call, whenever Mama-Etna gets bored of chain-smoking and starts to spit fire again. We agreed to hop on the first plane then…
My Fiancè booked this private tour as a surprise, he had been to Mt. Etna multiple times before. We spent a total of 13 days in Sicilia and our day at Etna with Augusto was our favorite part! Mt. Etna herself is breathtaking, but the way in which she is presented on the tour is incredible! Augustos knowledge, passion, and friendliness is something's we will always remember. I will suggest this tour to anyone visiting Sicilia. Thank you so much!!!

Watching sunrise was beautiful! Our guide Santi was amazing. He brought us coffee, tea and biscotti as well a blanket to watch the sunrise. We then explored the craters and caves, which were very cool to see and interesting to learn about. After, we went to a farm to taste amazing wines, oils, olives, sun dried tomatoes and artichokes as well as different types of honey. We ended very full with a great traditional Sicilian breakfast. Santi was super knowledgeable and showed us a really good time. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking to explore Sicily!
My the biggest and breathtaking experience was the hiking trip to Mount Etna, where I climbed with Giuseppe Martinico from 1000 m to 2670 m. Giuseppe is an amazing person, open minded, friendly, has infinite knowledge not only about Mount Etna, but also about fauna and flora, geology also historical knowledge of every place that I visited with him, knowledge that he willingly shares, you listen everything with bated breath. He answered my numerous questions very patiently and comprehensively. He is also very caring, trips, sightseeing or climbing are tailored to the abilities of a given person. We had an amazing time at Etna during the sunrise tour with Guiseppe. He brought almond milk, coffee and cookies for during the sunrise and in detailed explained us about different aspects of Etna and vulcanos in general in a simple and understanding way, answering all of our questions. He adjusts the difficulty of tour depending on the person interests and fysical condition.
