Travelers are picked up between 8:00am and 8:30am on the morning of their tour. A precise pick up time will be given on confirmation of booking. Uplift and return can be arranged from most addresses within Edinburgh including hotels, B&B's, self service accommodation, transport hubs, private homes and popular meeting points. Tour is scheduled to return back to Edinburgh between 5:30pm and 6:00pm.

The scenery was beautiful and Johann is an excellent guide. He's knowledgeable, humorous, energetic and kind. It really was the highlight of our Scotland vacation. The restaurant stop for lunch has excellent food and the best Cullen Skink soup we had! Highly recommend.
Great experience. What a great way to see the Scottish countryside. Johana was amazing. Considerate, prompt, helpful, knowledgeable and so accommodating. To give you an idea what type of person you’re dealing with. We left a pair of sunglasses in the van. Johana texted us that he found them and dropped them off at our hotel the next morning. Didn’t have to do it but went the extra mile.
Had an amazing time with Tartan Bike Tours on the Freedom tour 2 days ago. Was one of the highlights of our trip. Logistics could not have been easier and more comfortable in an unfamiliar area. Door to door pickup and return. The route was spectacular, the side excursions and historical information and context added another level of enjoyment to the already spectacular scenery and route. Lunch stop was outstanding. Johan was an amazing guide and we came away feeling like we didn’t just spend a day with a great guide but like we spent the day with a great new friend, and that is exactly what a great small recreational tour should feel like. Highly recommend and would book again in a nanosecond.
Fantastic experience! We are a family of four with two teenagers and everyone had a blast. Johann, our guide, took great care of us. The views are amazing. Lunch was at a local Inn/cafe with a very nice view and the food was fantastic and a reasonable cost. We did the optional hike, which was a bit of a climb but the view was well worth it. Transfer took a while but was in a comfortable van with a rest stop that had Hairy Coos that you could visit and even feed (which my daughter loved).
My wife and I had a great time with Johann. He’s a great bike guide. He went out of his his way to make the ride great. I made a mistake by not requesting E bikes correctly and we had to back track a little to correct the problem. If you want a beautiful ride along the countryside this is it. My wife and I had a wonderful day with Johann, and Tartan Bike Tours. We chose the Freedom Tour, and the scenery did not disappoint. We took advantage of the hybrid bikes, which were in excellent shape (very important), and the hybrid capability made any hills we encountered much easier to manage (honestly, I felt like the overall route was downhill, so the hills weren't too bad). Johann is an excellent guide, and as traffic was lighter than expected, we started the morning with an unexpected stop to view the ruins of Linlithgow Palace. From there we headed further north and west. The bike tour was roughly centered around the village of Kingshouse, where we paused for a delightful lunch. The optional hike after lunch was steep, but the views of nearby Loch Voil were spectacular. Overall, it was a lovely day, and we would definitely recommend Johann and Tartan Bike Tours. We hope to take other of their tours in the future.
We loved this tour! It was just Johann, my husband and me, so Johann was able to customize it for us. He made sure we had a full day adventure and were satisfied. He was prompt and picked us up in front of our accommodations, had a comfortable van and quality bikes. We decided on a route, and it was amazing - with lots of views of mountains, a loch, a mossy forest, and an old burial ground with stonework. Johann provided efficient instructions for cycling the route. He also offered some commentary at various points of interest and answered many of our questions about Scotland. He was delightful company, and we would book with him again in a heartbeat.
Everything about the Freedom bike tour was awesome! Johann picked us up at our hotel and off we went to the Trossachs National Park. Along the way he pointed out historical sites and answered many questions. We even got to see a hairy coo up close at a rest area. The e-bikes were in great shape and were easy to operate. The 30 kilometre ride was truly breathtaking. There were so many picture taking opportunities and Johann was quick to offer to take pictures of us. The ride was broken up by a lunch stop at a lovely cafe. It was a lovely day and I can’t recommend it enough. Make sure this is on your to do list in Edinburgh!
