First it was not a steam train. Steam engine was said to be out of spare parts. A diesel locomotive did a good job pulling the old carriages which were rustic and comfortable. No air conditioning but good atmosphere. Train ride was good. I enjoyed the initial outing of Kota Kinabalu where the train crossed many roads and the beautiful horn sounding constantly. We passed villages, jungle, sea coast, an oil refinery and major towns before turning back to stop at a beach to watch the sunset. Awesome! On return we were given dinner on the train. Nostalgic old train ride. Enjoyable. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful evening and enjoyed the north borneo railway during our train tour to Sungai Benoni. Everything was perfect as we managed to see a beautiful Sunset.
