PRIVATE San Sebastian and Basque Coast Tour from Bilbao

This private tour was everything it was advertised to be. Zack picked us up right at our hotel in a beautiful luxury sedan and drove us from Bilbao to a morning walking Tour of San Sebastian. We saw the beaches, the kayak surfers, the bay, the marina, the fresh market. All before it became too crowded. Then we set out for the fishing town of Getaria for some walking and touring before he brought us to a waterside outdoor restaurant for grilled fish, which we simply loved!! You can practically watch the chef cook your fish at the outdoor grill situated just at the front of the restaurant. After lunch we were brought to a geological park along the Atlantic coast that shows rock formations that are millions of years old. This region was featured in the last season of the Game of Thrones saga. In summary, this was a private tour and was exactly what we wanted. No large groups with a guide wearing a headset and you listening to their distorted voice coming thru cheap earbuds; the flexibility to stop for a restroom whenever we needed it; the luxury to have a wonderful and relaxing outdoor lunch and to be able to text Zack whenever we were ready to be picked up; and to have his ear when we had questions, not having to share him with many other tourists and not having to fear monopolizing his time when others also want some attention. If this is the type of experience you are seeking, look no further than this tour option!!

We did a full day tour of San Sebastián, Getaria, and Zumaia with Zach and had a fabulous time. His van is spacious, clean, and comfortable and he is an excellent driver! He “reads his audience” and formulates the tour and pace accordingly. We had a wonderful day and would highly recommend this tour and ANY tour ‘The Best of Basque’ offers as they are true to their name!!

Wow! There are not enough positive adjectives to illustrate how fantastic 'The Best of Basque' are - trust them with everything you want to see and do in the region and you will not be disappointed!! Ahead of our trip Zach was very quick to reply, thorough and detailed in going through various options that they could accommodate and providing recommendations. We booked the 1 day private tour taking us from Bilbao to San Sebastian and had Olaia as our guide for the day. It was an amazing day, we had as long as we wanted in each location (including a rather long and absolutely delicious lunch of anchovies followed by a whole turbot washed down with txakoli whilst enjoying a fabulous view of the port of Getaria - all arranged and recommended by Olaia) and fell in love with the region. Olaia shared so many insights, history, language and recommendations and was a joy to spend the day with chatting, laughing and learning - even sharing additional recommendations for the remainder of our trip. No need to shop around looking at different tour providers - they really are the very best at showing you the best of the basque region. Topa!

We had a wonderful tour with Irene exploring the beautiful city of San Sebastian and the rugged Basque coastline. She was lovely, extremely knowledgable, and shared so much insight into Basque culture. The lunch in Getaria was absolutely delicous. Highly recommend The Best of Basque! Eskerrik asko!!!

Great day in the Basque Country with our guide Olaia. She was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and had a great sense of humour. We have done many of these, and this day certainly ranks with the best.
