Sunken City Ruins of Simena
We now reach the famous Sunken City of Kekova, a unique archaeological site protected by UNESCO. As the boat slows down, you’ll have the chance to observe the ancient ruins of this Lycian settlement, which slipped into the sea after a series of earthquakes in the 2nd century AD. Swimming is not allowed here, but you can enjoy impressive views of the submerged streets, staircases, and buildings from the deck.

During our one-hour stop, you’ll have the chance to hike up to the ancient Simena Castle, explore dozens of Lycian rock tombs along the way, and admire the iconic sarcophagus standing in the sea. I heard that doing a boat tour is a must when visiting the Kekova region, so my friends and I decided to rent a private boat and contacted YourTourKey. Baran took care of us during the whole process, and the tour perfectly matched our wishes. From the very beginning, it was a magical experience — the area is full of history and natural beauty. We felt so comfortable on the boat, the food was delicious, and we could stay as long as we wanted in any bay we liked. It was such a great experience, we totally recommend it.
Very good experience! The only one issue-no word in English🤣. But we were ready, knew the history, and it was no problem at all. Friendly staff, helped with everything. And we really managed to swim with turtles!
MUST-DO EXPERIENCE IN TURKEY —— New and completely private boat, the definition of LUXURY. We could decide where to go and what to do with the captain. The sea of kekova island, little isolated bays, and the submerged city were incredible. Personnel very kind, we had lunch with fresh fish grilled for us. TOP
